Early 1900's, Joseph Price,starting working life at the John Bull Rubber Company
on
development of rubber tyres, which were in their infancy.
Moving later to Firestone’s new tyre factory on tyre development.
Meeting owners of a rubber company, he was persuaded to
run a factory in Box,Wiltshire, developing tyres,rubber products,tennis balls and
squash balls.
4 years later,1939,war time....ball production ceased, Rubber products for the war
effort, including tyres and rubber components for armoured vehicles, tanks etc.
In 1947 he registered J Price(Bath), later absorbing
the Box business that had ran into difficulties.
Derek, his son, joined the business in 1947 and is still involved developing balls
and other rubber products.
Louise,Derek’s daughter, joined the company 2012 and is now running the business.
They have built and moved into a new factory to take J Price into the next 100 years!
